We all need to reduce our heat emissions - how the Money Saving Boiler Challenge can help

Reducing heat emissions from our homes is a crucial part of the solution to climate change. Make a difference in 5 minutes.

This summer, the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly apparent. As we face heatwaves and more frequent extreme weather events, reducing heat emissions in our homes is a crucial part of the solution. Kuppa is already helping Wolverhampton residents take actionable steps towards energy efficiency through our digital advice tool. Today, we want to introduce you to another more initiative that is making a difference nationwide:

The Money Saving Boiler Challenge

  • The UK’s Innovation Agency, Nesta, are promoting a simple yet effective way to save money and reduce gas consumption - reducing your boiler flow temperature.
  • By adjusting the flow temperature on condensing combi boilers (for heat and hot water) to 60°C or below, households can potentially save up to £112 on their annual gas bills.
  • Many combi boilers are set to much higher temperatures, despite optimal performance being at lower temperatures.
  • Lowering the flow temperature takes only a few minutes and can be easily reversed.
  • Use the handy how-to on Nesta’s website to start saving in 5-minutes.

The importance of reducing heat emissions cannot be overstated, but advice and support are out there. The Money Saving Boiler Challenge demonstrates how a simple adjustment to boiler settings can optimise performance and reduce unnecessary energy consumption. By making changes in our home and exploiting the support available through Kuppa and the Money Saving Challenge, we can make a significant impact in creating a sustainable and resilient future.
